Student Nuclear Medicine Assistant

Job Description

  • Prepares, measures and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing a variety of equipment and following prescribed procedures.
  • Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses and administers doses under the direction of a physician.
  • Calibrates equipment.
  • Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.
  • Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors.
  • Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a Limited Scope Certification.
  • Must be physically capable of transporting patients.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to communicate well with others.
  • Must be accepted into a Nuclear Medicine academic and accredited program.
